Types of Massage at Okra
*New Client Special is only applicable for Classic Massage Therapy Types. It also cannot be applied to same day appointments.*
Classic Massage Therapy Types:
Swedish Massage: Using the 5 classic strokes, Swedish massage promotes relaxation, blood circulation and lymph flow. Great massage style to work out many areas of the body and leave feeling like a million bucks.
Deep Tissue: Deep tissue works on the muscles and fascia located below the surface muscles. This massage modality is best utilized to treat consistent pain, people involved in heavy physical activity, or clients that have sustained a physical injury (e.g. whiplash, tweaked back). Deep tissue techniques are very valuable to areas of injury, but generally are not used for a full body session.
Specialty Massage Therapy Types:
Neuromuscular (NMT): This modality works to release trigger points in the muscles. Trigger points were mapped and published by Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simmons. Usually used in conjunction with deep tissue technique this style utilizes deep sustained pressure on activated “pressure points” that are referring pain to sometimes distant parts of the body.
Prenatal Massage: A massage tailored for your specific needs and issues during pregnancy. Bolsters and pillows support your body while the therapist applies swedish technique to restore you to your most balanced self.
Hot Stone Massage: Using basalt rocks to release heat deep into the muscles, this ancient massage technique is truly an out-of-this world experience. The stones open the muscles and allow for deeper work without using deep pressure. Great for fibromyalgia-related muscle pain.
