200-Hr Teacher Training with Brooke Carlson

Whether you want to pursue a career in yoga or want to delve deeper into the practice of yoga as a student and practitioner, Okra’s 200-hour teacher training program will support your needs. Our curriculum does not focus on one style of yoga. We focus on giving you experience in many different modalities and styles so that you may find your own voice and teach what authentically speaks to you and represents your path. Okra’s program will not only prepare you to teach yoga, but will also work with you to help foster becoming a lifelong student of yoga.

In the OYTT program you will start teaching the first week. We center the program on practicums where you will practice your teaching and receive personal feedback from your teachers and fellow trainees. You will also be required to observe a total of 10 classes on your own time. Students will go beyond the studies of the postures into the realms of yoga history, philosophy, pranayamas, meditation and chanting. Physical anatomy as related to asana will be studied along with more subtle energetic bodies. Students will also contemplate and learn about yoga ethics, lifestyles, and the business of being a yogi. Several guest teachers will be invited during the program to share their own expertise with the class.

Are you ready to embark on this journey of self: releasing old mental and physical patterns that hold you back, discover the full spectrum of what yoga has to offer, and learn how to share the practices with others? If so, join us and dive in – you will be offered an extraordinary amount of practical and inspiring information that will serve well beyond the life of the program. Above all the training will be fun, dynamic, and enlightening!

Okra Yoga School is a Registered 200-Hour Yoga School by Yoga Alliance. This school provides a 200-hour training program that meets or exceeds Yoga Alliance Standards. It should adequately prepare trainees to teach a general adult population. Students who complete trainings with these schools are eligible to register as RYT 200s.

Note: Space is very limited. In order to maintain the integrity of the studies and ensure  that every student receives an abundance of personal attention, the program is capped at 14.

About the Trainers

Brooke Carlson

Brooke Carlson“I initially found my yoga mat after a minor car accident. The doctor suggested it for healing my spine. It did not take long for my physical body to improve greatly, and almost immediately other magical things began happening. I had never felt such a deep sense of “coming home” to myself. It was only after practicing for a few months that I knew this was going to be my path and that I wanted to share it with others.I graduated from my first 230 hour yoga teacher training with Dolly Stavros of Red Stone Yoga in May 2006. Over the course of almost the last ten years I have studied with too many great teachers to name them all.

One of the most profound things I have learned through my own yoga practice is the importance of authenticity. Through a multitude of various trainings and workshops I have gathered plenty of information and inspiration. I keep what I resonate with, leave what I don’t, and try to integrate it all in order to maintain integrity in the teachings while simultaneously honoring my own experiences and truth. My intention for this training is to share knowledge and offer guidance while allowing you plenty of space to deepen your own sense of self and find your own authentic voice. I am incredibly excited and honored to embark on this journey with you.”
